This is my interpretation, in the celtic style, of a Salamander, which was a being or spirit associated with the classical element of Fire.
This piece is meant to be displayed in a diamond orientation, rotated 45 degrees clockwise.
About Ian Herriott
My art is inspired, and strongly influenced by, the work of the Irish illuminators who created the spectacular art in the "Book of Kells" and other manuscripts. While I strive to re-create the look and feel of those earlier works, I allow myself to explore subject matter which was foreign to those artists. The combination of old and new continues to hold my interest. I enjoy the process of experimentation and creation, and I hope that you enjoy the results.
